A Brief History:
The US Open is a tennis tournament that is held annually in Queens, New York since 1881. The US Open Tennis Tournament starts on the last Monday in August and lasts for two weeks. Although there are other tennis championship tournaments US Open is one of the oldest.
It consists of five championships: singles (men’s and women’s), doubles (men’s and women’s), and finally mixed doubles. Another uniqueness about this tournament is it event for wheelchair players.
The US Open tennis tournament is unique in that it is one of the few tournaments in the world that offers a wheelchair championship. It is also the only tournament that combines all five championship categories into one tournament. It has been running since 1881 and is held annually on the last Monday in August.
The tournament is held annually at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City and provides some of the biggest purses in the sport. It is the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year and draws the biggest names in tennis from all over the world.
The tournament also consists of qualifying events that allow lesser-known players to compete for a spot in the main draw.
The Williams Sisters (Serena and Venus), Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova and recently Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are renowned Champions of US Open Tournaments.

It is not only the major names in tennis that compete, but also lesser-known and up-and-coming players who have earned a spot through qualifying events.
The US Open is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments and it is held annually in late August and early September. It has become one of the most prestigious events on the tennis calendar. The US Open is considered to be the toughest of the four Grand Slam tournaments due to its five-set men’s singles match and best-of-three set women’s singles matches.

Also, Players are qualified to win a trophy when they have seven wins in a row, and to get that, they must first win sets, games, and points in a particular order.
It is also highly regarded for its commitment to giving lesser-known players a chance to compete on the grand stage, as evidenced by the success of players such as Alcaraz and Swiatek.
At the end of the game when both competing players have equal scores, the “Sudden death” protocol is followed.
The protocol explains that after equalizing, the first player to reach seven points by a margin of two at least wins the game.
When is the US Open Tennis 2023?
143rd edition will be played in 2023 from August 28th to September 10th. It will be played on the hard courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, United States and traditionally, it will welcome 128 players in both ATP & WTA draws, and once again reward players with tens of millions distributed in prize money.
